HCT President Joan Deem and HCT 1st Vice President Thomas Glenn attended NYSUT's Nassau County Contiguous E.D. Meeting on Wednesday October 21st, 2015. Speakers Matt Jacobs, NYSUT Nassau Regional Director, Selina Durio, At-Large Director for E.D. 17/20, and NYSUT Secretary-Treasurer Martin Messner updated the crowd of educators from all over Nassau County on the issues of the impending Friedrichs vs. CTA Supreme Court decision and the possibility of amending the New York State Constitution by means of a constitutional convention. The main themes underscored by the messages of the three speakers were of activism from grassroots efforts of rank-and-file members Island-wide and the need for all members to become actively engaged in their profession before it's too late.
