High School science teacher Alison Silvestri received the Town of Oyster Bay "Women of Distinction" award for giving back to her community by volunteering at ecological events and nurturing students interested in STEM. Silvestri participated in events such as "Save the Dunes" and other Bay preservation activities. She was recognized for being a role model for young women interested in STEM by planning field trips to NYIT and Stony Brook University and inviting speakers to the high school to discuss the delicate Long Island ecosystem.

"I feel so honored and humbled to be recognized among a group of such extraordinary women who have given back in various ways to the Town of Oyster Bay," said Silvestri.
