Workers Rally to Protect Rights

Thousands of workers and unionists took to the streets Saturday, February 24th, in New York City's Foley Square. Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill DeBlasio joined the rally, called the "Working People's Day of Action" which was planned to coincide with the Supreme Court's hearing of the Janus vs. AFSCME case which could affect labor funding. Cuomo supported the rights of workers who "need the strength and solidarity of the labor movement more now than ever." He said, "As long as I am governor of the state of New York, the state of New York is going to have the back of organized labor."

Our own Stephanie Sullo and Thomas Glenn attended the rally. They commented on the inspiring speakers and the energy of the participants. Sullo said, "It was an amazing feeling standing shoulder to shoulder with unionists from all walks of life."
