Count Me In

The powerful film "Education, Inc." was shown to HCT members at the October 13th General Membership meeting. "Education Inc." screened to bring awareness about how education has turned into a profit-making venture at the expense of children. The film is the creation of parent Brian Malone, a filmmaker who has investigated how public education is being harmed by deep-pocketed interests. "Education, Inc." shows just how public education is being attacked, zooming in on the corporate profits by following the money made by privatizing education. The film airs footage from protests and board meetings and allows the voices of frustrated students and parents to be heard. Copies will be made available to those members who were not able to attend. Also during this meeting 126 HCT members received awards in recognition of their outstanding efforts and union participation during the 2014-2015 school year.  All merchandise distributed was 100% union and American made.
