Members of the Hicksville Congress of Teachers and their families, as well as the Hicksville PTA Council were represented at the "#Red4PublicEd" rally across the street from the Broadway Mall on Thursday, September 17, 2015. We were one of nearly 20 rallies across Long Island supporting public education.
Protesters displayed signs that said: "More teaching, less testing," "Don't punish struggling schools, SUPPORT them," Just let us teach," "End the high-stakes testing insanity, OPT OUT," and "Stop attacking public schools." People driving by waved and honked to show their support for public education.
